After the demise of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson released his first solo effort in 1988 with a promising lead single 'Love and Mercy,' but a pop crossover proved elusive. Perhaps this was becaue the Beach Boys had also staged their comeback at this time. Years later, Brian Wilson would be the subject of television documentary entitled, ironically, I Wasn't Made for these Times."
